Brad Schoenfeld M.Sc., C.S.C.S
Brad is widely regarded as a “trainer of trainers.” He is a lecturer in the exercise science department at Lehman College in the Bronx, NY, and an adjunct professor in nutritional science at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He was previously a faculty and board member at the American Academy of Personal Training in New York City, a vocational school for aspiring fitness trainers.
Brad earned his masters degree in kinesiology/exercise science from the University of Texas. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in exercise science at Rocky Mountain University where his research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of muscle hypertrophy and their application to resistance training. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and serves as an associate editor for their peer-reviewed Strength and Conditioning Journal. He has achieved multiple certifications as a personal trainer, including the NSCA, the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and CanFitPro. He was named the 2011 NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine as well as IDEA Health and Fitness Association, which has bestowed upon him the title of Master Trainer – the highest ranking possible.

Albany NY Fitness is simply the BEST! I was hesitant to join, fearful that I could not keep up or would be embarrassed or “judged”. I couldn’t be more wrong! Al and Chris are amazing trainers! They push me a lot harder than I could ever push myself working out alone!! They are motivating and encouraging and believe in me and all of their members. And this has helped me to believe in myself and believe that I can do this! The work outs are challenging and exciting and the members are welcoming and the best group of people to work out with! It has been 8 weeks since joining and I have lost 27 pounds, many inches, 2 dress sizes and 1 pants size so far. My wife and I have been going to Albany NY Fitness since May and it’s been great. I’ve always been athletic but never liked going to the gym…until now! My daughter gave me a groupon coupon for this place called Albany NY Fitness. Quite honestly I was upset at her for “wasting” her money on something I would never do. I let that coupon almost expire but a dad can’t turn down a gift from his daughter. The first day I met Al I could tell his genuine interest in where I was physically and nutritionally. The first couple of sessions I had my doubts about staying with it but I was feeling better. Fast forward a couple months and it’s something I really look forward to going to, I like the hard work and I appreciate Al and Chris making sure I don’t over do it but also pushing me where they know it’s good for me. They have a great program, the group of people in the class are so much fun and very entertaining. I have a long way to go to get myself back into shape but I can see slow and steady progress. You really do feel like a family and I thank Al for that.

Alan was an excellent trainer for me and also was extremely motivational. He trained me as an athlete and helped me reach peak performance at my sport. Not only did all his knowledge help me to learn about my body and fitness but he also served as an amazing role model for me. I have been a member @ a “big name gym” in the past. I
would go a couple of times and stopped. There was no motivation, no
encouragement from the staff @ the “big name gym”. I felt very uncomfortable in
the” big name gym” surrounded by people who are used to working out. I felt
like I was being judged because my fitness level was not like everyone else. I
stumbled on Albany NY
Fitness by mistake. I was impressed by the quickness in response that I
received. Once I met with Alan and Chris I was also impressed with their
positive attitude and willingness to work with me. Alan and Chris are both
formally trained and that was important to me. I have been going to Albany NY
Fitness for about one and a half years. I started out @ 3 days a week with one
on one training. I am now doing one on one training 3 days a week and boot camp
2-3 days a week. I am not only physically stronger but mentally stronger. I
believe it is the encouragement I have received from Alan and Chris. I am
healthier now than I have ever been in my life. My “bad” cholesterol is down my
“good” cholesterol is up. I am doing things now that I never thought possible in
the past. I would highly recommend Albany NY Fitness. Alan and Chris motivate
you to believe in yourself, encourage you to do better and there is no judgment
in the gym. They work with you and any limitations that you may have. I would
